Chicago author/journalist Lisa Torem co-wrote, Through the Eye of the Tiger and All That Glitters: The Ava Cherry Story, and wrote On Track: Tori Amos, On Track: Billy Joel and On Track: Suzanne Vega for Sonicbond. Interview subjects include members of The Kinks, The Zombies, The Stones and Paul McCartney’s Wings, as well as solo acts: Chubby Checkers, Rita Coolidge, Donovan, Lesley Gore, Darlene Love, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Johnny Winter and Dweezil Zappa, among others. Her features, live reviews and interviews appear in national and global outlets.
The 1988 Bangles’ hit, “Eternal Flame,” nearly every Tori Amos studio album, and four albums by legendary Willie DeVille, serve as a mere sampling of John Philip Shenale’s major industry contributions and rich canon. Mr. Shenale wrote cues for Sons of Anarchy and played keyboards for The Forest Rangers, who contributed much of the music to the popular American TV series. In addition, he has scored Louis L’Amour novels for Random House. Arrangements by the L.A. triple-hyphenate (music arranger, composer, producer) have been chronicled and cited by scholars and noted music writers.
Copies of On Track: The Beach Boys 1965-1979 and Resilient Women Who Rock will be available for purchase at the event. Book-signing to follow the conversation.
