Initially inspired by the eclecticism of the Mudd Club’s (NYC) DJs, John Phillips began seriously collecting 45’s in the late 70’s. With a focus on 50’s Jump Blues and R ‘n B his collection is also deep on 50’s rockabilly and 60’s soul and garage. He began spinning in Chicago in 1981 at The Lucky Number and Neo and by ’82 was a regular DJ at the first Artful Dodger on Milwaukee. He was honored to spin both Las Vegas Grind Weekends (1999/2000) and did New Years Eve (2012) with Wanda Jackson at the Double Door. His DJ style is eclectic, dance floor oriented and decidedly old school.
