Reaction Formation – 40th Anniversary Reunion Show
$12 Adv. / $15 Day of / 21 & over / Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm
The 7-song CD, Pornstar released in 1991, was a turning point for Reaction Formation. After years of hacking away at their instruments, trying to figure out how to write songs, book gigs and get paid, band members Steve Timble, Jimmy Timble, Brian Steele and Mos Pisto had finally figured out how to be a band. There were a sold-out release show at the Metro, a short tour of great bars in Midwestern cities, articles in the music magazines, play on college radio and the strange feeling that adult life was about to walk in the door, flip on the lights and yell, “The party is over.”
One would think that 40 years would make a person smarter and less prone to bad decisions. Yet somehow, inspired by mortality, text message conversations and the echo of youthful voices lost in time, Reaction Formation will reunite to celebrate a decade of writing songs, making music, driving long highways and, most importantly, making and celebrating the joy of the friendships we formed along the way. It’s definitely too late to become famous or write the perfect song, but we all still have plenty of time to be friends, don’t we?
There will be old songs and a new one or two, forever friends and new acquaintances, savored memories and the promise of things to come. Daydreams and celebrations. Yesterday, tomorrow and the joy of today.
